Dealing with airlock Empty Dealing with airlock

Changed the pump on the feed back to the boiler but had to drain down the system to just under the base of the Boilermate.
Seem to have an air lock as I cannot refill the upstairs radiators. I don’t really want to fire up the boiler in case it has the air lock.

Dealing with airlock Empty blockage

Is the fill pipe from the top tank to the boilermate blocked I am sure I have seen it mentioned on here. I think you can get a wire coat hanger straightened and try to poke it clear to let the tank fill the system. Worth a check.

I took the advice on the Gledhill internet site which was to backfill the system. Result: no air locks and filled the Boilermate and three radiators pretty quickly.
