BOILER INTERMITTENTLY LOCKS OUT
Hi,
We have a Boilermate2000 which seems to intermittently cause our boiler to lock out. It is a potterton suprima 70L and it locks out with the red light flashing.
I have had two plumbers around who have both said it is not the boiler but the boiler mate and that they won't touch them as they are nothing but trouble. Apart from ripping the system out and replacing it with new do you have any suggestions as to what it could be, and how it could be sorted.
Also I have spoken to a neighbour who said they had a similar problem years ago and it was confirmed to be the boilermate and that Gledhill replaced the PCB.
Thanks
Shaun

Re: BOILER INTERMITTENTLY LOCKS OUT
Hi;
Is all up and running apart from that?
And when the fault happens, is there a switched live at the BM 2000 ACB ?
And at the boiler?
Is it going out on overheat?
Seems very odd that a boiler engineer can not get to the bottom of it.
The BM 2000 ACB's do play up a lot. I have fitted no end.
If I were you, I would get a guy round. Call Gledhill at 60p per minute.
And Potterton as well.
Bit of time and money but I would not give up.
The only people who will not touch the BM 2000's or any thing else come to that are not up to the job.
It is their failing not the unit's.
Everything in life is fine until it goes wrong!
Did they tell you what boiler they would replace it with?
As there does NOT seem to be a good boiler on the market at the moment.

Re: BOILER INTERMITTENTLY LOCKS OUT
Hi Mike,
Yes all is up and running aprt from when the boiler locks out, obviously there's no heat getting put into the heat store then and it goes cold very quickly.
I'm not sure whether its going out on overheat, how would I check that? The flashing red led seems to indicated a multitude of things.
Overheat or failure to ignite for some reason.
BAXI MEGAFLOW 2 SYSTEM BOILER combined with a new pressurised cylinder. If my neighbour had the same problem and Gledhill replace the circuit board could it be that again? Can you still get the circuit boards? if they do give a lot of problems is it best to
replace the lot or should we persevere with it.
Thanks
Shaun

Re: BOILER INTERMITTENTLY LOCKS OUT
If it is overheat, then it could be the boiler at fault.
Or the boiler pump on the BM2000.
Failure to ignite is another problem.
What flashing red light?
On what?
Spares are available, see on here ref spares.
Boards are about £255:00p each.
Don't touch them with bare hands, STATIC !
Where about are you?
