Problem with intermittent hot water temperature with shower
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read/reply to this post.
We have a Gledhill Systemate 2000 which was installed in a Wimpey new build back in 2003 (for what it is worth we are in postcode M28 near Manchester). We have just started experiencing a problem with the shower running hot and cold. The remainder of the hot water supply and central heating appears to be running fine.
The thermostat on the boiler is set to maximum and the reading for the temperature sensors within the thermal store are as follows:
T1 - 73
T2 - 85
T3 - H56
Am i correct in thinking we could have an issue with the heat exchanger? Or could it be something else?
Many thanks in advance for any replies.
Ian

Re: Problem with intermittent hot water temperature with shower
If every where else is ok.
Then your shower may be faulty. (thermostat)

Thanks for the response Mike - much appreciated! That thought had crossed my mind, but the shower is a simple mixer type. That typically wouldn't have a thermostat would it?

Re: Problem with intermittent hot water temperature with shower
Lol I would not know.
Google up the make & model and try to find out.
Even if it is a manual shower one of the filters could be blocked.
As you state all other DHW outlets are fine.

Re: Problem with intermittent hot water temperature with shower
okay, an update on this issue; i was reliably informed that the problem was isolated to the shower - so i fitted a new thermostatic cartridge, but it turns out on further inspection (i rent the property out so wasn't on hand to check this previously) that the problem affects all of the hot water supply. The water continuously runs from scolding hot to luke warm, including the shower with the new part :-(.
The rads still appear fine.
Any suggestions Mike?

Hi
The T2 reading of 85 is a T2 sensor fault (85 or ER or 99 are all errors, should read lower than T3), so just change the sensor, I would change both to avoid problems in the near future.
