Boilermate OV A-class, hot water turns cold
I live in a block of 6 apartments, built around 10 years ago, all fitted with Boilermate OV A class boilers. There is no gas, so the boiler is for hot water only (heating is provided from electric units).
I am able to shower with sufficient hot water, but if I were to put a load of washing on in the morning and clean dishes etc and then shower later on in the day, the hot water in the shower eventually runs out and stays cold until the following day. As far as I'm aware, I'm meant to have constant hot water, i.e. I don't have to turn hot water on/ off and wait a while before I can shower. The timer unit fixed to the wall looks nothing like the one in the instruction manual, which always helps.
I'm new to this forum so please be gentle! Any advice or ideas would be appreciated.

Boilermate A class ?
Or Pulsacoil A class?
Heat the unit up over night by electric?
If so you will have hot water according to the size of the unit.
It is a thermal store
Once used needs re heating

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your reply.
It's definitely a Boilermate A Class.
How do I ensure the unit it being heated overnight?
Thanks,

Re: Boilermate OV A-class, hot water turns cold
It is unusual to have a Boilermate A class for water only.
A PulsaCoil A class yes.
If it is the BM A class you must be using the electric heater fitted at the bottom of the unit.
What size unit is it?
This all sounds weird to me.
Chat with your neighbours and see what they have.

I'm not sure of the size of the unit.
I asked my neighbours and they experience the same problem. Called out a plumber who couldn't figure out what was wrong; ran diagnostics, checked pipe etc, but I'm still having the same problem.
I really am stuck now

Re: Boilermate OV A-class, hot water turns cold
So I called out another plumber, and he said it was actually a PulsaCoil A Class - apologies Mike.
Does this help in determining why my hot water runs cold after a while, and is there any way of changing this?
Thanks

Re: Boilermate OV A-class, hot water turns cold
PC A class lol not much difference !!!!
Right it will be
1 or 2 sensors
The pump
Could be Main ACB (PCB)
Possible plate heat exchanger.
Not hard to work on though
But check water in top tank
Next to top tank you will see at the side 2 pipes
Grab the fat pipe (22mm) If it is red hot you should get hot water if all else ok.
If cold then none at all.
If only warm then DHW will only be warm.
Google up Gledhill repairs for your area include PC A class in your search.
Ask other neighbours whom they use.
Gledhill Response may cover your area.
Fixed price repair with one years break down cover will be £300:00 plus
British Gas might do as above also.
But I am sure some of your neighbours will be using someone.
And not being rude.
If people put their location in the post, perhaps help would be more forthcoming

Sorry, I’m a newbie so didn’t know you could add location. I’m based in Worcestershire.
My neighbours used a regular plumber who like mine found no problems.

No not having a go but location is key.
Have you many neighbours?
If so ask more.
If you plumber or theirs can not do it. Then you need someone who can.
I have just Google' d your area and quite a few pop up.
So follow my advice ref picking one and you should be fine
