Various problems
Hi, we recently moved into a new flat and have had a few (to say the least) problems with our hotwater.
We were in bed, and there was a horrible whirling noise coming from the airing cupboard. My husband got up to check it, and there was water and steam everywhere. We switched the power off and called Gledhill the next day, who aren't particuarlly helpful.
Eventually we switched it back on (after topping up the water in the grey tank) and for a while it worked fine. Then the other day there was only enough water for a quick shower. Plus the water goes hot, cold, hot cold, warm, cold.
We called out a plumber who changed one of the heating elements. However its still not working well, and we don't really want to spend any more money as we're broke!!!
Is there anything we can do or check to save us another hefty bill?
Thanks,
Sue.

Re: Various problems
Hi;
If you called Gledhill on their technical help line at 60p per minute.
They would be helpful.
Have you the user instructions
And the manual on the unit?
If not go to Gledhill website and down load for free.
Read them and try to learn as much as possible.
Sounds like your PC2000 was short of water.
And or the stat had failed.
Any decent electrician can test both the heaters and stats.
Once the heaters are tested and the unit is full.
Get it hot.
Run the hot tap, the pump should work (set on number 3 speed)
If the pump does not work, check for supply at the pump.
Check that the pump runs free.
Next is the sensors.
PHE sensor
DHW sensor.
Check the pump PCB, for any burning at the top left hand corner.
Check for any leaks, as you could be losing water.
Failing all that.
Check on here for some one in your area ( home page list of advertisers.)
Or Google for some one local.
It may be better if you mentioned where about you are.
The PC 2000 is not complicated at all.
Not to me as I work on lots of them.
Also check on this site;
PC 2000.
Read the other posts and all what I have mentioned will be there and perhaps more.

Re: Various problems
Thanks for the reply Mike.
Do you have the number of the 60p a minute line?
We're in Tunbridge Wells in Kent. My husband is going to digest what you have suggested and hopefully we can have a hot shower in the morning!!!
Otherwise we'll have a call around. We just dont want to spend more money on the unit only for it not to work again. We need it fixed quickly, I'm showering at the gym right now, but its getting tedious!!
