Overheat Safety Trip Empty Overheat Safety Trip

LOng story. Moved into 5 year old house 4 months ago. Heating kept coming on regardless of position of Constant / Off / Timer and same with water. Found documents to show this had been happening since fitted. Very expensive to run. Turned temperature down in garage boiler but boilermate still activating. Recently it was going all night and very noisy as boiler in upstairs cupboard so I turned it off at mains switch. Turned it on later and 3rd fuse trip switch on the right as you look at it tripped. Put it back on a overheat safety trip rapidly flashing green light. Got plumber to check boiler in garage and no power getting there. Pressed 'Push button to reset appliance' but has no effect. Any ideas folks?

Mark,

It is a common fault and nothing usually wrong with the BoilerMate, Installers have been installing the wiring to these units incorrectly.

The unit will need rewiring and the fault usually will clear.

It's not something anyone without the correct training or experience should attempt and really should be left to the professionals.

Should take a couple of hours labour to fix and no materials.

However as with any of these systems I cannot guarantee this will be the only fault without having tested it.

Kind regards

Gary

Spoke too soon. The third trip on the Boilermate tripped again last night at about 2100 hours within 10 seconds of boilermate starting to heat up.
