Pulsacoil A Class fault?
Hi
I have a Pulsacoil A class that is about 10 years old and was in my apartment that I bought three years ago.
The boiler has, since I moved in, intermittently displayed a red flashing light that I am aware can be a sign of an element failure or something else.
The light is not always on and the boiler has always worked satisfactorily. I did not therefore do anything about it.
Recently however I have started to notice that we are not getting enough hot water for two showers, there is enough for one but when the hot water 'runs out' it goes cold very quickly.
There is one other oddity. The Horstmann electronic 7 timer I have will show the off peak light and the boost light at times when it is not supposed to be on - i.e. the timer is set properly but it seems to be operating outside of that.
I have sufficient knowledge to change the timer and/or the elements if necessary but I am hesitant about investing in parts to change them almost on a trial and error basis.
Any thoughts and advice would be very gratefully received.
Thank you
Matthew

Re: Pulsacoil A Class fault?
Check the timer out first.
Don't be surprised if it shows signs of burning or melting.
When you have done that then come back again.

Re: Pulsacoil A Class fault?
Hi Mike
On inspection the board and components were clean. The relays were slightly hot to touch.
When I powered off though the off peak light was on but on power on it was off again.
I think it might be worth replacing it or sending the board for service. Please may you let me know what you think
Thank you again
