Sensors need replacing Empty Sensors need replacing

Post  LisaManc Sat May 19, 2012 5:06 am

Hi

I've had the usual hot and cold water supply from my boilermate 2000, and both the dhw and phe sensors both showed errors every now and then. If I jiggled them then it would sometimes sort the issue out. Yesterday the hot water stopped completely so I turned the system off from the mains for a while. Turned it back on and both sensors are showing errors consistently now. Though very strangely the hot water is perfect now, even though both are showing errors!?

I know this is probably the calm before the storm so i should get both sensors replaced. I know I can buy the sensors for about £25 each. How hard is it to change the sensors? I've had a read around and from what I've picked up it doesn't seem to bad. I know my way round a screwdriver even though I'm female lol.

If someone could give me a step by step guide that would be really helpful.

Thanks x

The front sensor is no problem. Turn water off open hot tap.
PTFE tape on thread and fit.
The rear sensor is your problem. That is on the store side and a lot of water behind it.
You can buy a kit to block the cold feed and vent off.
But can be a bit 50/50.
And remember the water will be very hot.

Thanks for that Mike x

Yeah I certainly don't want to burn myself with the hot water, it's boiling when it comes out of the taps never mind directly.

Maybe this might be a step too far for me. Anyone know of someone in Manchester who could do the job?

Thanks x

Look on here, home page.
List of advertisers.
Or Google up for Gledhill repairer in your area.
Or Boilermate 2000 repairs etc.

There's only 1 person in Manchester on the advertisers forum and his number is wrong! Can't find anyone on Google either. Seems they are rare around Manchester.

If anyone can suggest someone please do.

Have you Googled him?
Looked in the Yellow pages online for him?
