Boilermate 2 replacement Empty Boilermate 2 replacement

Hi all, I've been reading this and other forums and now considering replacing my boilermate 2 with an advanced appliances thermal store. I've been in touch with them and found them helpful to a point. I need to know the piping layout as on the boilermate it all comes in on one side but it appears that on the advanced appliances thermal store there are pipes coming in from the other side as well and could be a plumbing nightmare in my airing cupboard. I wondered if anyone had done this conversion and had any photos or tips? Thanks in advance.

Download the one you are looking at and all the info will be there.
Boilermate BP would be the one.
Or if tight for space. the Albion mains flow direct or indirect with header tank built in or separate.
Pipe work wise very often you can build a plinth and pipe the unit up better.
Build a good one though!
150 mm x 50 mm timbers with 20 mm ply is good.
Check you have the height though.

Hi Mike

Thanks for the reply.

What do you suggest I download to see the piping arrangement of an advanced appliances store?

If you down load the ones I mentioned.
Read the install manuals etc.
Study them well though.
All will be revealed.

Hi
Or have a closer look at the new Gledhill Torrent Green Heat model, this should fit your existing BM2 almost perfect in terms of piping layout.
I hope this is helping you a bit

Hi Mario, thanks for that suggestion, always good to an alternative. The advanced appliances manuals are not very helpful for the store i'm looking at, wouldn't want to rely on it for detailed pipe layouts.

All the Gledhill manuals give you the pipe lay out / connection.
Installer manuals that is.
With the Albion Mains flow units you have to study them a bit.
With experience there are still pit falls.
EG;
With a BM II if there is the room a BP unit will go in.
But if tight the Mainsflow can / will be the better option.
You do need to study them all very carefully indeed.
When fitting the BP units the unit is filled via the F & E tank.
BUT the heating is NOT.
Therefore you have to cut a cold feed into the heating / boiler system.
AND a vent to.

Hi Mike, do you not recommend advanced appliance thermal stores then? I think it's from you that I heard about them. They seem to fit the bill, apart from the pipe layout on both sides that is. Thanks

Not looked at them.
There are quite a few around.
The Albion Mainsfow is a good match for the BM II
