Pulsacoil BP, storage tank water hot, overflow pipe constantly dripping
Hi there,
Hope someone may be able to help. My unit is 2 years old. I noticed this morning a constant pour of water coming from the over flow pipe outside. On investigation the unit feels really hot in general to touch. All the pipes seem to be warm. I checked the storage tank at the top and has plenty of water in it, but it is very warm to touch.
I noticed the water dripping outside is warm too as it is steaming!
Any ideas what it could be? I will get someone out, but would like to stop the dripping so as to not to annoy the neighbours.
Thanks for your help
Helen

PC BP.
If the top tank has an overflow.
Has it got a ball valve too?
If so it could be the ball valve dripping. Isolate the ball valve to stop it until fixed.
If the unit is really hot, then the heater rod stat could be faulty.
The top tank needs to be about 1 inch or 25 mm below the ridge in the tank.
Do not over fill the top tank.

HI Helen
Which version of is it that you have? If it's a Pulsacoil BP and the overflow is dripping warm water it would suggest that the internal coil has failed and the unit will require replacing.
Contact Gledhill as soon as you can to get this resolved and don't just leave it.
