Lack of hot water help and newbie information
Hi ya,
I have recently moved into a new flat and it has a pulsacoil a-class boiler and I am struggling a bit with it. Would it be possible for you to answer a couple of questions for me?
1. I do not have a thermostat or a control panel to set the water temperature or when off-peak should be. Is this normal? All I have is two switches on the wall - 1 is always lit and is the main isolator switch; the second is also in the on position but I have never seen the lit on.
2. I am running out of hot water all of the time. If I have a shower in the morning and a bath in the evening there is no hot water left for the washing up. This does not seem right to me as the system is billed as "hot water when you need it" as it is basically heating the cold water on the fly. Am I right in thinking this?
I have spoken to Gledhill and they said that I was using too much hot water and that I should use the boost switch. So I thought "OK", I'll use the boost. I pressed boost and the red light came on, left it for 2 hours and tried the hot tap - stone cold. I have read one of the posts on here and it mentioned that one of the relays could be burnt out, but I do not have a flashing light on the front of the boiler. I have checked the top up tank an dthat is at maximum. Is it possible that I have a relay problem?
3. What times are classed as peak and off-peak?
Any healp or suggestions would be greatly recieved as as I type this post, recovering from another cold shower I am struggling to control the urges to unleash my wrath on the boiler. :-)
Yours in desperate need,
Jim
