Electramate 2000 problems
Hello.
My brother has a electramate 2000.
Were currently trying to get to the bottom of why his electric usage is so high. Like double what ofcom say is high usage. Hes lives alone and works 60 hours a week.
Were placing the blame on the boiler currently as its the only thing in the flat we dont understand.
Some of the issues were finding is
Radiators randomly heating up when hot water tap is running even though heating is turned off
Hot water taking a few mins to reach the tap even though the boiler is the other side of the wall
Not sure if these are normal things. Can you offer any help atall

Electramate issues
Hi this is a link to the manual for the unit. http://www.gledhill-spares.net/documents/EM2000-Iss6.pdf
It may be that the control board has gone faulty as symptoms such as heating coming on randomly are typical of this happening. Some obvious pointers are no display on the red display on the board it should say -on or similar. The videos on my website shows how a Boilermate 2000 pcb works and the operation is very similar. Other ones shows typical fault situations. http://www.murraymartin.co.uk/ Hope this helps a bit.

Re: Electramate 2000 problems
Yes the display says on but it actually is on as we have the heating on.
Ive read the manual but its of no help to me i dont know one end of of a boiler from the other. The letting agent is getting a gledhill person out again but quite frankly the last one that came was a useless as a chocolate teapot and had never seen that type of boiler before.
Guess im just hoping for something to point him in the right direction when he comes
As lets be honest its not a user friendly system atall. Pressure is also only on 1 and not sure if thats normal

Electromate
The pressure is fine on 1 that is for the sealed side of the water system.
The other thing to check is that the peak and off peak settings are set/working correctly as obviously there is a big difference between the unit costs peak and off-peak especially if the power is being used at the wrong time. There may be an issue with the electric water boiler for example the off-peak heater may have failed which means the on-peak part would be doing all the work.
Hope you get it sorted.

Re: Electramate 2000 problems
Im taking about usage not cost. His usage is at 12,000. Units for 10 months. Thats a joke isnt it, the type of usage a cannabis farm would have
We do have a meter engineer coming out to check on that side of things and we have the boiler guy coming this week.
Im starting to feel like im on a doomed mission here and im not going to solve this problem atall.
So can i presume the radiator should not warm up when he has a shower or washes the pots

radiators
As far as I am aware the radiators should be independent of the hot water, certainly looking at the manual they should. I don't know what typical usage ought to be with this type of unit I am afraid. Have you checked the attic if you have one maybe there is some grow lights up there!
Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Re: Electramate 2000 problems
Thankyou. I feel like im fighting a loosing battle. Wish hed had told me sooner as hes been billed £1600 in 10 months for electric.
New meter being fitted wednesday so hopefully the engineer will shed some light on the issue.
