Intermittent Fault, boiler cuts out and has to be re-set
Hi,
I have a Boilermate 2000 thermal storage unit and a Glow worm Micron 70FF boiler. The system runs perfectly well for weeks at a time then will cut-out out of the blue and need to be re-set by using the temperature dial on the Glow-worm boiler. I have to turn the temperature dial down to '0' leave for 30 seconds then turn it back up to almost maximum and the boiler fires up and works perfectly well again. This fault can happen 2 or 3 times in a week and then run for a month or so with no problems then happens all over again. We have had numerous engineers called out to look at the boiler, it has been serviced as they requested, they have also changed the switch in the Glow worm boiler but the last engineer said it was a fault with the control board and that this would need to be replaced. The company we have our boiler cover with have refused to replace the part until the system has been powerflushed but several independent engineers have advised us that as the system is only 7 years old it should not require a powerflush and that this will not solve the problem. I have read on a seperated post on this site that this system should not be powerflushed, have you any ideas what we should do?
Many thanks
Nick

Re: Intermittent Fault, boiler cuts out and has to be re-set
POWERFLUSH POWERFLUSH POWERFLUSH ££££$$$$$$$$£££££££$$$$$$$ BUT CANT BE SURE IT WILL WORK !!!!!!!!!!!! I
WOULD HAVE AN ENGINEER GO THROUGH THE ACB TO CONFIRM THAT ALL PARAMETERS ARE BEING REACHED. is the store getting to full temp, is it kicking the boiler back on when it needs to, is the pump overun working, the hot water left in the gas boiler maybe making it overheat and this can be inconsistant. is the boiler reaching its max temp and shutting down correctly, is the unit reaching over 60 degrees or the heating wont run !!!!!
DONT POWERFLUSH THIS UNIT.... I HAVE LOADS OF HORROR STORIES.

Intermittent Fault, boiler cuts out and has to be re-set
Hi Mark
Thank you so much for replying to my email. I will try and answer your questions as best I can but I am not too familiar with boiler systems. I am not sure if the store is getting to full temperature as I am not sure what that is. The boiler does not kick itself back on, I have to turn the unit of and re-set it to come back on again. I do not know if the pump is over run working and do not know how to find that out. I do not know if the boiler is reaching it's max temperature and then shutting down as it is an intermittent fault and I am unsure of what it is supposed to do. Also the heating has always worked until it cuts out. I do not know if these answers are of any use to you but the boiler has shut-down twice in 24 hours and now may not do it again for a few weeks. I look forward to hearing from you again, thank you for the advice about the Powerflush.
Kind regards
Nick
