Red Fault light on - freezing cold water coming through taps. Managed to fix this morning.
Hi,
Thought I'd post a note on the site as it certainly helped me this morning. I have no manual for the Pulsacoil 2000 so was reliant on the blogs on this site, so thanks!
I woke up this morning to freezing cold water in the shower and taps (not just a little bit cold as is sometimes the case before it warms up, but feeezing so I suspected something was wrong). Tried switching immersion on for a while and the boost but it had no effect.
On the front of the unit the red fault light was on, so after reading the blogs I took these steps to fix:
1) Unscrew front panel to get at the circuit board
2) SWITCH EVERYTING OFF TO AVOID ANY SHOCK!
3) Take off the fuse box and take out the fuse. If element broken, then you should probably replace the fuse (mine was OK it seemed).
4) Replace fuse and then locate the manual reset button. This is tucked away somewhat. I have a sticker to the left of the circuit board saying something like 'Manual Reset Switch'. Next to that, there is a black twist cap attached to the left of the circuit board. Unscrew this to reveal a brass coloured cross button that might just be poking out. PUSH THIS BACK IN as this (I think) is the manual reset switch.
5) Turn everything back on. When I did this the red LED on the cicuit board was flashing twice intermttently.
6) Cross your fingers and switch on your taps and hopefully you will have hot water again.
This worked for me, hopefully for you too!

Thanks for the tip - I will check this when I return home.
Since Saturday, this has happened each morning actually so I think something may be wrong for this to continually happen. It's just a pain to have to hit the manual reset switch each morning before I can get hot water.
Looking at the website, it appears to be a comon fault:
4) Persistent tripping of the overheat protection thermostat.
The red 'Fault' light comes on and the unit fails to heat up until the front cover is removed and the manual 'overheat reset button' is pressed. An upgrade kit is available from Gledhill to cure this. The old overheat protection thermostat is removed from the circuit and new immersion heater thermostats fitted incorporating new, separate overheat thermostats.
Does anyone know if this is something I can fix myself??
