Very High Electricity Bills Empty Very High Electricity Bills

I have a rented property on a development in Portishead Bristol. My current tenant is complaining about very high heating bills .. is there any advise I can offer about adjustments to the Electramate 2000 12kw or is it a case that I need an engineer to take a look at the unit - they are saying that bill is £1600 per quarter !!

Hi Iain,

It's unlikey to be a fault in the Gledhill. More likely the user is keeping the heating on 24/7 and using vast quantities of hot water!

The energy being used can only end up inside the flat one way or another so I think some investigation of your tenant's usage patterns is necessary. The only other possibilty is that the meter associated with your flat is actually supplying a different flat and your tenant is paying for someone else's electricty. I've discovered this several times now since I started repairing Gledhills.

Cheers, Mike

Very High Electricity Bills Empty From the letting agent

Post  iainsw Mon Jul 05, 2010 10:10 am

Hello Mike

Co-incidently, I got a message from the letting agent today ..

"I have been speaking with Gledhill Response over the past few days in relation to the boiler – I asked them to send an engineer out to the boiler as the tenants are receiving high elec bills (this is usually down to the heating bottles failing on the boiler – so it has to use more elec to get it to work)

Gledhill have sent out an engineer, how-ever they have advised they will be sending you a quote for the repairs "

Any idea what the heating bottles are and whether they fail :-)
