BM2000 - Runs Out Of Hot Water Fast...
Having fun and games with our lovely 2000...
Fun started with showers running skin removing scalding hot, then artic, no rhyme or reason to it.
Our local plumber came around , he's worked on this boiler a couple of times as it's the same one across the entire housing estate where we live. So he knew to change the PHE sensor, still problem persisted.
Turned out we had a faulty replacement, so he ordered new replacement, installed it and that fixed the hot/cold issue on 2 of the 3 showers. - Result.....
One of the showers however, still persisted in it's burn and freeze cycle, turned out it's own sensor control thing was screwed, so had to replace the unit in the shower as well. £400 down the sinker so far....
Anyway , that finally solved the hot/cold rigmarole, thank god.
Just as we think the pain is over , we end up with a new issue the next morning.
Temperature is constant (lovely) but then the water runs out after just about 5 minutes - arrgghh!
Call blokey back, much head scratching ensues, but bottom line we get about 10 minutes of nice warm water in the showers max, and strangely if we turn on the central heating we get even less hot water in the showers, maybe down to 5 minutes.
In addition the radiators are now taking longer to heat up than they used to and stay luke warm for ages before they get hot.
Anyway, it's all over my head but basically our plumber says the next step is to get the boiler serviced see if it's coping correctly, he says it's only at 63 degrees and should be more like 80 degress as that's what the Boilermate needs.
Any Boilermate 2000 gurus kicking around the Midlands, happy to pay for travel, I get the distinct feeing if I pull a guy in from the local heating firm, he' not going to have a clue.
Any advice appreciated, I've left a message for Mike, incase he's available to come around.

Hi Simon,
Got your email pointing me at this question. I have a question back....
Is your boiler downstairs a Potterton Suprima by any chance? If so I probably have the answer ;-)
Cheers, Mike

suprema fault
Hi Mike
I have a similar fault as described above. I do have a suprima downstairs. So what is the fault.
to cover some details.
BM2000 and potterton suprima
Fault= hot water runs out fast ,(when store temp is 75 everything works well all lights /led's on etc)
store temp drops to 40 ( so no heating either), boiler pump is running (silver cover off to check), boiler fires then turns off, continues to cycle like this but the store temp can't be maintained
New PHE and sensors fitted ( change these every other year)
System drained and refilled all ok.
All pumps working ok Voltages checked, pump control board works and signal from ACB seems to be ok.
I now suspect a fault in the boiler, Could a blockage cause it to shut down therefore not supplying the correct heat to the store?
Would a power flush help?
I have looked over this forum at most posts and not found a real answer yet so please enlighten me if you can.
Thanks
Lee
