Pulsacoil iii - what do the 4 switches do?
Hi I just moved into a place with a puslacoil iii. I notice there are 4 switches arranged vertically. The top one seems to control the clock/timer. The bottom one is labelled booster and I know I should keep that off. But the middle two, are they both on switches for the main system?
Also the options are off, twice, all day, 24 hours. What if I only want hot water in the morning? Seems a waste reheating to me in the afternoon as I don't use hot water later on in the day.
I've skimmed the manual but can't find the info in there, so any help would be much appreciated.

Can not be sure with out some pictures.
It is normal to have 3 switches.
1; Off peak
1; On peak
1 Supply.
Is one a "boost / timer switch?

Re: Pulsacoil iii - what do the 4 switches do?
Hey, thanks for the reply. Alas I can't link photos as a newcomer to this forum.
But the top one appears to be connected to the timer, as when I turn it off, the timer stops ticking.
The three below are connected to the boiler and the bottom one of these is labelled "booster". So from what you're saying, one is off peak and the other is supply so I need them both on right?
Then is there a way of avoiding the top up heating in the afternoon?
Many thanks for the advice.

Are you on E10 then?
If you are. And the units requires heat in the afternoon. Then do so.
As you have a Thermal store.
And it is better that the unit is kept hot.
Any way it will not heat up if already hot.

Re: Pulsacoil iii - what do the 4 switches do?
Hi sorry I don't know what you mean by e10, but I'm on an economy 7 tariff and the boiler says it heats during the night and then tops up in the afternoon according to the timer...
But I understand now, it's actually cheaper if the unit just stays hot rather than reheating right, and so that's why there isn't an option of turning off the afternoon boost.
Just to confirm, I should have all switches except the booster on right?

The unit should not be heating up in the afternoon if on E7
Some people have E10 which gives a top up in the afternoon.
You can turn off the On peak switch if you wish to ensure it does not work until boost is required.
Just use the off peak switch.
And the "supply" switch.

Yes u can get a heating up in afternoon with E7, this will be a " super deal " or " heat wise". E7 tarif, there is about 5 h in the night and 2h in afternoon ( prob. From 3 pm to5 pm)
