Boilermate 2000 - Towel Rail Circuit

My BM2000 operates from a normal digital timeclock and room stat. It is timed for central heating twice daily.

My BM does not have the manual overide switch facility.

At numerous occasions during a 24 hr cycle the boilermate calls for heat from the boiler and then pumps hot water around the towel radiator circuit.

Does anyone know how to stop this, as I'm not really that bothered about have nice warm towels when I'm at work or in the middle of the night!!

Plus costing a fortune with the never ending gas price rises.

Your solution can be found in the BM 2000 manual.
Pages 8, 12 and 15.
You will have to work out what you have / has been installed / fitted.

Page 8 - I definitely don't a 'summer circuit return fitted'
Page 12 - Not sure if I have a bypass valve installed, never seen one though. All radiators have TRV's fitted, so presume not.
Page 15 - By a process of elimination, I presume this is the installation I have?

Hopefully interpreted the manual correctly but stil not sure how I stop the boiler firing during the times outwith the set times on the timer? Surely the boiler should only fire when the store temp falls below the set limits or when timer is 'on' and room stat calls for heating?

Confused with the above and costing me a fortune in gas. Next step is to switch the unit off during the day!!

Has the towel rail got a TRV ?

Yes, they are Danfoss ones.

Which pump are they connected to?
Must be the boiler pump.
Are you sure that the store is not calling for heat.
And the towel rail has been put on the boiler flow and return.
Or the towel rail is working on gravity?

Yes I think it must be the boiler pump, therefore I presume that these become hot when the store calls for heat to keep the hot water at temperature even when the timeclock or room stat does not call.

Therefore, no way to stop apart from maybe timing the electric supply to the store eg turning power off while i'm out at work and then switching on when i return. Got to be cheaper than maintaining a full unit of hot water for 10 or 12 hours a day??

Sorry Mike to step in to this, most likely is that the towel rail is connected as usual to the primary circuit ( running on the Gledhill boiler pump) so all time the Boiler fires up, the radiator comes on. the only way of stopping this is to turn off on the radiator valves ( mostly on the return valve, as the flow is on the thermostatic valve and some only go to frost protection ,means always slightly on)

Well I did say most likely on the boiler pump.
And if the towel rail is on. Then the store will fire.
And did say turn the towel rail off.
