Is there anything to stop me tapping a hole into the side of my BM2000 and adding an immersion heater?

Looking at the scarce few pictures I can find of the Switch immersion heater on the net it seems that it is connected to the PHE and the outlet at the top of the tank. Is there any reason why I could not add in an external type immersion heater to the same points?

Fitting some check valves appropriately at each end of course
