Hi I drained system to replace a radiator, now finding that the unit is leaking badly from the very top of the cabinet, if I push up the top metal panel water runs down metal panel to the floor. Any idea what the cause could be please. The pump valve on the hot water circuit is also leaking, but this is a minor irritation.

Hi thanks for responding.
I think the leak is caused by a failed push fit connector on the vent pipe, picture shows water seeping from the joint, it looks like it then runs into the top of the unit under the top cover and then down front of the unit.

I'm thinking of drilling out the aluminium rivets that hold the top cover in place so that I can confirm, then refit with self tapping screws. Any reason why this would not be a good idea?

I have to drain the system to replace the leaking pump valves so I'll replace the failed vent joint at same time.

I've also added a picture of the two pumps with similar ball valves, I'm thinking of replacing both sets, good idea or unnecessary?
Pictures are at the link below (not sure how to insert pictures):

Why don't you deal with the leaking push fit connector.
Use a 22 mm compression fitting.
Then see if it dries out.
Can see no pictures.

Thanks I am replacing the push fit connector and the leaking pump valves - now replaced with a gate valves, might as well deal with these while system is empty.
Have you removed the top of the cabinet in the past?, just want to dry out under the top panel so that I can check it is not leaking any more.
Pictures should be visible if you click on the link - the words "Boilermate Pictures" at end of my first reply.

Don't take off top/
Unit will dry out with the heat.
Unusual for them to go at the top/
Check bottom right hand corner.
Also check for track marks where the plastic clips go into the metal panel.
Have seen the pictures now.

Ok thanks, I will be refilling soon, this takes hours I guess because it is gravity fed from tank via 15mm pipe. Does the duration sound right? Is thee a quick way to refill?

It is blocked.
Try connecting a flexi hose to the cold feed
Or back fill the unit via a hose / drain off.
