Off peak timer has stopped working - broken relay?
I have a Pulsacoil A Class boiler in my flat that has worked correctly for the last 3 years.
I have always used the timer and off peak setting to turn the boiler on & off to heat my water at set times. I could always tell when it turned on as you can hear a click when you turn the timer to off or on.
However this now seems to have stopped working although the boiler is not showing any faults and when I press the on peak boost it works ok. Without the on peak boost the water is cold.
I have taken the front off the boiler and checked for any error codes (as per the instruction manual) and it shows no faults (light is flashing to indicate system running normal) but the red LED line for "Off Peak Supply Present" is not lit.
From what I can gauge from this forum and the manual the relay seems to have failed for the off peak supply which is preventing my timer from working.
Based on the above information provided could someone confirm if I this sounds like the correct diagnosis of the problem?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Off peak timer has stopped working - broken relay?
Hi Mark,
Seems very likely that the off peak relay has failed. The only way to be sure it is the relay and not the timer though, is to use a multimeter or test screwdriver to check if power is available on the cable outlet from the timer but not being passed on through the relay to the off peak heater (while the relay is energised).
Cheers, Mike
