Time to descale the heat exchanger, I was wondering what sealing washers were used on the heat exchanger piping & also on the switch so I can get some ordered before I start work?

Also not sure that switch is working correctly, is there any way I can check this while I've got everything disconnected?

Wondering about fitting a magnatite device. Has anyone fitted one & is there room local to bm?

you will need 4 new washers for the PHE.
The switch elements can be test as per any heater, shower immersion etc.
Carry out resistance tests, continuity and earth leakage.
A magna clean would be fitted near the boiler ( return pipe)
Gledhill do an optional lime scale reducer (electric)
Or you could fit a magnetic scale reducer to the cold supply into the unit.

Are the washers standard size fibre washers I can get from any plumbers merchants or specials I need to order?

No room to fit magna clean near boiler so I'll just flush the system thru & add some inhibitor.

No they are special washers.
Order more than for as they do play up.
Also smear some silicone grease on the washers both sides to stop them scrunching up as you tighten the connections.
If the system is really sludged up add sludge remover / cleaner. Run for up to a month then flush etc.
Add inhibitor then

Not seen washers quoted in the lists on web sites so where's the best place to purchase them from?
