OFF peak switch becomes very very hot when in use - Pulsacoil 2000
Hello
The OFF Peak switch of my PULSACOIL 2000 becomes very very hot when in use ,( that is when i get my off peak electicity at night and early afternoon ) and it's probably for this reason that after a couple of years it stops working, ( i've swapped 4 off peak switches in the last 8 years )
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Thanks
Fabio

Well over heating of a switch or what have you can be that the connections are not made properly.
As in not tight.
Or the switch is not good enough. Try one made by MK or Crabtree.
The stat in the bottom heater needs checking too.
Along with all connections really from the consumer unit, off peak switch and the unit.

Hi Mike,thanks for your reply
I'll call an electrician to check the connection between the off peak switch and the consumer unit and between the off peak swith and the boiler.
I'm about to swap the off peak switch for the 4th time in 8 years , I've bought a MK 20 amp Double-Pole Switch Marked Water Heater, the previous switch was a MK 13 amp switch do you think that's ok? The 20 amp switch has no fuse, do you knw why ?
You also say that the stat in the bottom heater needs checking too,,, but what do i need to check exactly? I think the electrician is not familiar with the boiler and I don't think he'll check it, please let me know
Thanks again for your help

Need to check the stat is working.
If an electrician can not check an immersion heater stat, not good.
He should also advise you ref the rest.

Check these
Hi Fabio,
When the electrician replaces the switch, ask him or her to carry out a r1+r2 reading. After he or she has done that, ask that they do a Ze reading, then a Zs reading and confirm results are to standard. I don't expect you to understand this but your electrician should. If he or she does not understand what I have said, stay clear of them.
Then ask them to confirm Zs at the immersion element.
