suprima boiler seems to be on for ever and is noisy!!
Hi recently just bought a new house 3 storey with a boilermate 2000 in the upstairs (top floor) cupboard and a suprima boiler in the kitchen, never used this system before so not sure if its normal however i have just recieved my first month gas bill and its huge compared to last house! Boiler seems to come on and off as it pleases and im guessing thats to keep the water hot howver its usually on for about half an hour a time (heating not on either) when i put the heating on, the boiler seems to be on forever and its quite loud humming noise which i hear on the top floor, the boiler could be going for the whole time the heating is on never clicking off when reaching temperature unless i turn the thermastat down to 12c i will then hear the rads click off but the boiler will take another approx 30 mins to click off! Im becoming fixated on my gas comsumpation as the boiler just seems to be on forever, i had it serviced last week howvere the engineer was not familar with boilermate so i didnt find him very usefull and im now being talked into a complete new heating system! My questions are:
Is it normal for boiler in kitchen to come on and off and for how long should it run for?
Is this boiler known to be loud when working?
Should the boiler be running for hours and hours continully all the while the heating on (thermastat only on 19c)? My last boiler so quiet i didnt even know it was on half the time!
any advice very grateful

hi mike
looked at manual and i see that the boiler should only fire on demand not willy nilly as it appears to do now! Other than that i havent a clue whats wrong with it, just know its driving me crazy! When you say 'not good' what do you mean by this? I also see that your based in norfolk do you travel to outskirts of ipswich by any chance? Or can you recommend anyone
Many Thanks

Your boiler is not good!
You need to turn the heating off.
Although the BM 2000 will NOT give heating if it drop below 60c (the unit)
Turn your boiler up to max.
The BM 2000 controls the boiler.
See if it heat the BM 2000 up.
When it is around 72 c it will stop.
Next run some hot water and wait for the boiler to fire.
If the above does not make sense.
Then consult the manual and go through the commissioning procedure.
Which will lead you through the unit etc.
You may have boiler trouble.
When was it last serviced? Get the boiler serviced first.
The boiler will / should fire on demand according to the BM 2000.
If you use heating or hot water.
It will keep the unit at it's temperature.
I only do Gledhill units.
NOT boilers.
I do / have been to Ipswich.
It is more cost effective if you can find someone local.
If you look on the home page there is a list of advertisers. I am on there.
Also if you look at a member on here, there is a button you can click on (rhs) which gives there web site. If they have one.
