Boiler Mate making odd sounds

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help. We have a boiler mate 2000 fed by a baxi solo.

We are having our kitchen changed and the fitter turned off the water in the street. He left the boiler running for around 10-30 mins by accident and following this the boiler mate is making a horrible buzzing sound. The boiler is also fireing alot more than. It used to.

I ran te hot taps yesterday and it stoppe the sound but it had come back this morning and seems to be constant.

Is there anything I need to do to get it back in line?

I wonder if its not got enough water in it because of the water being off and the boiler being left on ( 1st day when kitchen was ripped out and water was off) and it trying to fill the tank without it knowing there was no water supply.

Having said that there is still hot water being supplied.

Do I need to check te header tank in the loft?

Bit concerned as repairs are te last expense we need right now :-)

When the kitchen was ripped out etc.
Were any rads or heating pipes removed / drained?
