Replacing PHE on Boilermate 3
Hi
What is the process for draining down the Boilermate 3 when replacing the PHE.
1. Obviously power off.
2. Close mains cold water feed
But now how to drain down and how do you know when the level is sufficiently low enough to change the heat exchanger without flooding the place?
Many thanks.

Re: Replacing PHE on Boilermate 3
Use the isolating valve on top of the exchanger and one on the Pump below, turn the main water off, open a hot water tap to release the pressure and take the exchanger out, there will be only about 1 litre of water in the exchanger on each site. Also fit new washer at the exchanger change, to save yourself some hassle. And don't let the water running over the pump, use a plastic bag or adequate and some old towels to mop the water up.ZakZak wrote:Hi
