Corroded thermostat failing
I've got a minor leak in the immersion unit which over time corrodes the thermostat.
After a couple of month this corrosion reaches the point where the thermostat stops working and the water no longer heats up.
If I replace the thermostat all works again - but I was wondering if attempting to remove the corrosion from the thermostat might also fix the problem ?
Essentially I'm wondering if the thermostat is actually broken or if the build up of corrosion has just stopped it functioning correctly.
Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi
Sorry to tell you, but, this will be a never ending story of replacing thermostats. You have to drain the boiler down and fit a new Immersion and of course with this comes a new thermostat as well. The water from your slightly leaking immersion stat pocket shortened the contact or corrodes the contact on any thermostat you fit.
happy new year

OK - I had a suspicion that was the case.
Thanks for the reply and letting me know.
