Boilermate never stops running
Can anybody assist with this question?
Boilermate OV fitted 2006 in new build, we just moved in a few weeks ago.
Heating and water functions okay, only issue is the system never stops running, I'm not sure which of the pumps it is that's running I think it's the one to the boiler or the heating.
I'm assuming it's not supposed to be continually running if heating or water is not required?
Thanks

Re: Boilermate never stops running
Hey Mike,
Thanks for replying, boiler output set to max, all functions in terms of heating water are okay.
Only problem is I can go to the boilermate 3 hours after the heating has switched off, no demand for hot water and it's purring away, I'll take the front of the boilermate off tonight and check.
Thanks

Re: Boilermate never stops running
Checked it out, its the heating pump that keeps running, even when the 3 zones for my heating are off, 90 minutes later and it's still running.
Status led says it's getting demand for heating?

Make sure timer and stat are not calling.
If all ok then ACB faulty

Re: Boilermate never stops running
I've got Siemens stats which control temp and times, what should switch position be fir the heating on the boilermate, if I put it on timer and the zone stats kick in during the on phase for the boilermate all should be okay?
Or should it be on constant and left to the stats to run things?
Thanks

Re: Boilermate never stops running
For some reason there's 3 stats but only 2 actuators, they look like they replaced the original stats because the the gap behind the stat wall mount doesn't match shape wise.
I'm assuming the stats trigger the actuators which in turn should make the pump run, the status led shows "room stat calling for heat"
If I take the batteries out of the stats that stop any talking with the receiver?
In all honesty even if I flick the rocker switches to heating off the pump still runs, not sure if this is PCB or switch related?

Re: Boilermate never stops running
Weird 3 room stats and only 2 motorised valves.
Is there one fitted elsewhere?
Conservatory or what ever?
Are all 3 stats hard wired in?
Or are the wireless stats with receivers mounted in the BM cupboard.
You will have to work out why 3 stats?
Could be where your problem is.
Check the ACB and the wiring to the ACB.
Someone might have altered it, had that before.
Might pay to download manual from Gledhill (free)
The blow the picture of the circuit up.
Make sure you are on the right page for your unit.

Re: Boilermate never stops running
Sorry for the delay in responding, only two stats are hooked up, no idea what the third one is for, they are removable from their wall mounts, there is some wiring hooked into the mount.
In the BM cupboard there's a Siemens receiver, this is wired to a junction box which has 2 wires which go to the valves.
I think the issue may be with the clock, I run the heating off the clock to stop it from running the pump.
When the clock is active all the rocker switch functions work, when it's off no rocker switch actions work which I find strange.
It does knock off on the timer but then fires up the pump again after 30 minutes or so.
Doesn't make any sense if it's on timer then surely the CH pump shouldn't run?
Wiring looks untouched.

Re: Boilermate never stops running
Problem solved!
There's a pipe stat in the garage, it was set at 20 deg c upper limit, no chance it was going to hit this with boiler not switched on, this kicked the CH pump on and it stayed on all the time as a result.
As the zone valves were off due to them being stat controlled, all I had was hot water circulating around the boilermate.
Knocked it down to 5 and the CH pump knocked off, the room stat should control switch on in the morning all being well.
Food for thought, I looked at every possible issue related to the boilermate and the room stats and it turns out to be something so basic.
Mike thanks for your help anyway.
