limited hot water

I have been in my flat for 5 yrs and only in the last couple of months have I had a problem with hot water. We used to have hot water all day every day, but now we can only manage 1 shower and then the water goes from tepid to cold. We are less likely to get any hot water at off peak times.The grey box on top of the system is empty. should this have water in it? Do you think I need to get an engineer in?

Fill the header tank (grey box) to the line at half way ridge line and your problem should be solved!
