Boilermate 2 pump change Empty Boilermate 2 pump change

Post  coonutshaker Thu Nov 10, 2011 5:15 am

Hi Mike,

I've been called out to a boilermate 2 that blows fuses when in Heating mode (dhw works fine). I've not worked on one of these before and have not been able to obtain a manual through my usual sources but i'm assuming it will be a pump problem? If this turns out to be the case, does it require a draindown or are there isolating valves on the pump/s ?
Is there a drain point on the boilermate ?
Is it a standard grundfoss 15/50 pump?
Any tips/pointers most welcome.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve

Yes the pump would be a straightforward Grundfos UPS 15/50 and it has got isolation valves above and below it (it's the higher of the two pumps as you look at the unit).

Before changing the pump check it with your multimeter to ensure that it is the pump that is causing the problem. The room stat, clock or the pump drive pcb inside the Boilermate 2 could all cause the fuse to blow when you put the central heating on, but wouldn't necessarily blow the fuse when only the hot water is on.
