pulsacoil 3 header tank
We have a pulsacoil 3 with a grey open topped header tank
I have refilled this today as unit is not working and green lights out.
Please can you tell me how full this needs to be. I cant see an inner marking.
At present I have filled the tank halfway to the midline ridge as is seen on the outside
Should it be filled right to the top of the doughnut?
Thanks

Re: pulsacoil 3 header tank
Sounds like you have enough.
When hot the water will rise a bit.
Keep and eye on it.
If you have to keep filling.
Then you could have a leak

Re: pulsacoil 3 header tank
To fill the unit up.
And to take any expansion of the heated water.

Re: pulsacoil 3 header tank
Yes fill the tank halfway to the midline ridge is correct, do not overfill this tank, it is a fill AND EXPANSION Tank ,so water will expand in it, if you struggle with this ,you can also have a sight glass fitted to this tank as shown on my website ( www.marios-boiler-service.co.uk, slight show !! ). after filling ,your green neon should come on again.stephy1968 wrote:We have a pulsacoil 3 with a grey open topped header tank

fill the header a little above half way, on the front of the header you will see what looks like a flexi pipe which is in fact a lead going to a level switch, if the water level is not high enough then the switch wont make contact, in my experience the level is always above halfway but you need to be careful not to overfill, if this is happening on a regular basis you will have a leak somewhere . You can obviously test the switch before you fill it up by manually making contact by simply lifting it up, but this depends on access. a volt stick or volt meter is handy when doing this if you feel you are competent.
