Pulsacoil III header tank replacement
My father has just moved into a flat with a Pulsacoil III and the top header tank appears to be leaking. A local plumber has told him that a replacement would have to be specially made. Is there an alternative "off the shelf" tank that would fit? Is there any reason that a standard 10/4 plastic tank couldn't be fitted? Many thanks.

With a bit of pipe work to connect a standard F&E Tank, yes this would work as well, depending on the secured stand of the plastic tank (may on a shelf above. You also have to re instate the water fill switch from the old tank to the new plastic one !!! If this all together is less costly as the factory replacement?? May as a DIY job.

Is there a factory replacement for the metal one? I can't find one listed anywhere. Thanks.

Yes you get for the “metal” cupper one a factory replacement tank. Those tanks has to be ordered in the special size ( 4 sizes on this model) for your Pulsacoil (you need the model number for this / the capacity of your Pulsacoil) and if the Pulsacoil a right hand or a left hand unit is ( the lower filling pipe ( 15mm) on your top tank left or right). Those tanks are than specially made to fit your Pulsacoil. The only problem is, you have to order them via Gledhill Parts (from the manufacturer) and you have to be a trading plumber or heating engineer to order from Gledhill Parts.
Kind regards Master Mario

Yeah the copper replacements are horrendously expensive but a plastic tank can be made to fit for not a lot of money at all. This is one I made earlier, the pic was taken before I fitted the float switch.
