On Peak Immersion trouble
My on peak immersion seems to be really hot to touch even though its switched off at the switch and even the mains circuit board. Recently the header tank is loosing water and requires topping up every now and then. I am concerned I will come home to a flat engulfed in flames as these Pulsacoil 2000 seem to be nothing but trouble.
Can anyone advise me what might be the issue? Off peak immersion is fine and lights are all ok. I have hot water but surely if its switched off at the mains it shouldn't be roasting hot to touch. Both immersions have been changed within the last year as well and I know when they got fitted that we made sure the on peak was constantly off.

Re: On Peak Immersion trouble
Well considering the Pulsacoil 2000 is a thermal store.
Yes the top heater or on peak will feel hot!
Heat rises.
Feeling it does not prove whether it is live / heating.
Have you tested it?

Maybe worrying for no reason
Hi Shaun,
You maybe worrying for no reason about the top element. The top element will get hot because the water in the tank is being heated by the bottom element. This is called heat transfer by conduction.
What is more worrying is that you are topping up your water every so often. How often? If every week, have your unit inspected for leaks, this could cause an insurance claim if water is going downstairs into your neighbours apartment.
If you need to speak, call me on 0800 046 1241 and I will do my best to explain.
