Is off peak immersion faulty?
Hi,
I recently moved into an apartment with a pulsacoil 2000 boiler hooked up to an economy 7 timer. Being unfamiliar with these systems, it took me a few days to work out what was supposed to be happening and I am now convinced that the pulsacoil is faulty. Howver, being unfamiliar with these I want to make sure I'm not just being dense and have missed something obvious before incurring callout charges. Here is the situation:
1. I have set the Economy 7 timer to provide off peak power between 00:00 and 17:00
2. In the morning there is no hot water. I think it might be very slightly luke warm, but not certain. Certainly not warm enough to shower in!
3. The boost buttom on the E7 timer will provide hot water, though I don't want to wait for this to heat up every morning!
4. The tub on the top is half full of water as required.
5. The green control circuit LED is off (not sure why as boiler is powered as it supplied hot water when boosted)
6. The led on the circuit board inside the cover is flashing in the pattern that indicates that the boiler is working properly.
Is it possible I am missing something to get the off peak immersion working, i.e. temperature setting or power switch somewhere?
Thanks
Andy

Re: Is off peak immersion faulty?
When using boost the top heater is used.
E 7 timer set 00:00 to 06:00 not 1700
If the bottom heater does not heat up.
It could be the rod stat.
Or the heater its self.
If you post some pictures of your switches and timer that may help.
I take it you have checked all fuses etc.
Any good electrician should be able to test the heater and stat for you.

Re: Is off peak immersion faulty?
Thanks Mike.
Sorry typo on the times - is set 00:00 to 5:00.
Take it it could just be a fuse inside the boiler then. At least it looks like I'm not overlooking something obvious and the boiler is faulty.

Re: Is off peak immersion faulty?
Not in the boiler
Check all fuse in switches
And consumer units / fuse boards.
But more like the bottom heater is gone or the stat in the heater.
