Electramate 2000 showing bulging in the main storage tank Empty Electramate 2000 showing bulging in the main storage tank

I have just bought an apartment which is fitted with an Electramate 2000 boiler. It turned out the boiler was not working. When an Engineer came along he pointed to me that the main storage tank on the left of the machine showed bulging of its side walls. The side walls are not straight but rather curved as if there had been excessive pressure inside. There are also corrosion marks in the metal cover, as if there has been some water leakage at some point in time.
I am told that in these conditions the tank might burst if I start using the unit. That means I must either find a replacement tank or reple the whole unit.

Has anybody come across a similar problem? What should I do?

Does anyone know where I can buy a new unit? Or another model that can replace it (I am told "A Class" is the following model)?

Thanks

Matias

I would speak to your solicitor and ask about what the vendor wrote on the questionaire about the heating system. You maybe able to get some compensation if they said it was in good working order when it was not.

It's your call, it maybe able to withstand this damage. Do your reseach, follow the link to the Gledhill website re technical advice a fixed price repair or replacement unit.

Has the system been drained or is it still pressurised, look at the guage on the front does it say (1 bar), The damage could be due to the expansion tank not having sufficient air pressure. Leaks from the top air release valve or from pipework or valves canbe fixed.

good luck
