Only get hot water when immersion is on
My Pulsa2000 boiler was working fine until a few weeks ago. I cma ehome and found i had no hot water. I checked the boiler and the green light is on. I checked the top tank and the water level is fine. So i turned my immersio heater on and i get hot water, but as soon as i turn this off the clock does not turn and i have no hot water again. I have a Grasslin ECOSAVE White Economy 7 timer. I can't figure out if the fault is with the boiler or with my timer?! Amy help with htis would be hugely appreciated!

Well if the clock does not turn then its the clock
If not test it out.
But to be honest sounds like you need some one out.
Look on home page guys advertising may be one in your area

Thanks Mike. Well the clock turns when the immersion fuse is switched on, but when it isn't the clock doesnt turn, which is what is confusing me more. I think i'll try nad find someone to look at it, just wanted to check i wasn't missing anything obvious.

Re: Only get hot water when immersion is on
Leave the unit switched on
It is a thermal store
Heat it up for the 7 hour period which is during the night.
11 to 6 in the morning
Or 12 to 7
Depending on your meter set up.
Have you the user instructions?

Re: Only get hot water when immersion is on
Ok i'll try that. The only reason i've left the immersion fuse switched off is that i don't want to end up with a huge electricity bill. I have 2 seperate fuse's, one for the boiler and one for the immersion. I have a set of instructions for teh Pulsacoil which consists of 2 pages of A4 but this contains little information other than the information for the wiring. Should i have more detailed instructions than this?

Pulsacoil 2000.
Normally has;
1; A supply for the unit
2; An off peak supply
3; An on peak supply.
You may have;
A supply for the unit.
And a supply which connects both heaters. via an E7 timer.
When the E7 is in normal use eg the timer 11 to 6 or 12 to 7 that would work the bottom heater at half price electric.
When the unit is heated about 72 degrees c then it will switch off via the rod stat in the bottom heater.
The top heater is a back up if you run out or if the top heater fails.
This only heats up about a third of the unit.
If you are in any doubt about your unit perhaps your local electrician could check the heaters, switches, clock / timer and rod stats.
It would help if people with problems posted some pictures of their set up.
As in different parts of the uk they install and use different timers etc.
