Pulsacoil 2000 newbie. No green light and hot water only with immersion switch
I have just moved into an apartment with a Pulsacoil 2000. I have read the literature left and the forums for help. I only have hot water when the 2 switches, which I presume one is for the off-peak heater and the other is the booster/immersion, are both switched on. Only with both switched on does the green light come on to show the circuit is on. The red led fault light is off. Is this correct or should the green light be on all the time? I have no experience with this type of heater.

Hi
The Green light on the Pulsacoil 2000 should be on all the time.
The unit should actually have three power supplies, one for the off peak heater (overnight), one for the boost heater, and one for the control circuit.
If the control circuit is turned off, the green light will be off and there will be no hot water. This switch MUST be left on all the time as it controls the pump which allows the production to transfer heat to the hot water that goes to the tap.

Re: Pulsacoil 2000 newbie. No green light and hot water only with immersion switch
Thanks for getting back so quickly. I have not taken the front casing off the boiler to look inside. As far as I can see, there are only 2 cables coming out of the casing and leading to 2 separate electrical sockets. The green light comes on when I switch on what I think is the immersion/booster heater. I am assuming it is that because the switch itself is red and the when switched on the red light on the socket is lit. Would the green Circuit Light come on at all if the third switch that you spoke of wasn´t switched on? Is this third switch situated inside the casing?

Re: Pulsacoil 2000 newbie. No green light and hot water only with immersion switch
Hi again
Don't take off the front of the unit as
1] you will expose yourself to potential electrical danger, and
2] you will gain no benefit from it.
If there are only two wires connected to the unit, it suggests that the control circuit is being supplied by the boost supply feed, and as such, the unit will be keeping titself hot all the time.
Although this is not dangerous, it will turn out to be very expensive for you.
You really need to have this corrected by either a Gledhill specialist or a qualified electrician to provide an independant control circuit supply.
We cover the Midlands, but if you are outside of our area, check the Gledhill specialists section of this website for the closest one to you.

Yes I am outside of the area you cover. For the moment I will just switch on the booster as I need hot water and then back off again.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.
